Subtle, milky and a bit fruity, Oregon Blue is a great choice for the hot summer months in the South. This cheese has the richness you expect from a blue, which satisfies those cravings that only a blue can handle, yet somehow manages to stay ever so light in its intensity, mouth feel and finish. The texture is dense and velvety, absolutely delightful on the tongue. It comes from the Rogue Creamery in Central Point, Oregon, which has been in operation since 1935 and has more recently started producing some of the finest blue cheeses in the world. Among them is also Rogue River Blue, which won "best blue cheese" of the year in 2009. Oregon Blue pairs nicely with your favorite summer fruit, like pears or figs and a chilled Viognier or other refreshing white wine.
